While you may often ask yourself “what else can I do?” when thinking about meeting the needs of your student with a disability, have you ever asked yourself “what shouldn’t I be doing?”  Despite schools’ and families’ best efforts, there are limited opportunities for our students as they grow into adulthood due to their inability to function independently.  This deficit is often a result of staff and families unknowingly helping too much and not creating a path by which the individual could better function on their own.  This highly interactive workshop explores the strategies required to enhance independence and remove limits to student potential.  This highly interactive presentation is specifically geared toward school staff and parents who work with students who require one on one support in any setting, and all staff and parents who have students in special education preschool and self contained classrooms, from Elementary to High School.
